Welcome:

What would a blog be without a welcome? My name is Ariel Salter and I would like to welcome you to my new blog 'A Salty Take On Life' which will just be a collaboration of different posts and articles having to do with things that interest me or my life in general. Unlike what the title may convey, I do not have intentions to make this blog negative, rather I intend for it to be positive and, although life is never perfect, something we can all reflect on to find the positive in the negative. Like most customary welcome post, however, I should probably get into a little more detail about myself.

I grew up in a small farming community in central Michigan where there was two bars, a church, and a school. Everyone has their opinions of small towns; however, as I stated before there can be something positive found out of nearly all situations. The positive that came from growing up in a small town is it taught me to care deeply and to think wisely. It taught me to care deeply because everyone surrounding me cared about each other and in their times of need everyone in the community came together to help their neighbor. Learning to think wisely came from caring deeply as it taught me the power of the ripple effect. From every action I took and continue to take there is a reaction, the size of the reaction is the only thing that varies. By just saying something kind to someone could affect their entire day while giving someone a much-needed ride helped them in another. Thinking wisely about the reactions that may come from my actions, I am proud to have learned this early on and continue to spread this lesson living up to this standard to the best of my ability each day.

Hobbies I have include listening to music, traveling, baking, running, and going on spontaneous adventures. Some of my favorite memories come out of these hobbies such as going to concerts with my friends during the summer, traveling near and far with family and friends, baking some of the best cookie recipes Pinterest could find, running competitively (yes some people do enjoy that we are not all crazy), and taking random trips up to northern Michigan with friends to swim on the best beaches.

I hope to document and share more of these experiences with you all so we can all not have such 'A Salty Take On life'.
